Last Friday the C.E. Byrd track teams competed well at the inaugural Battle on the Red hosted by Northwood High School. The girls compiled 125 points, the most points of all schools involved in the meet. Highlights include victories by Kyah Loyd in the 100 meter hurdles, Kayla Harrison winning both the 100m dash and the 400m dash, and Taisheka Porchia's debut in the 300m hurdles resulted in a victory and #4 ranking in the LA division 5A. Other victories were the 4x100 (Nia Johnson, Kyah Loyd, Kayla Harrison, Taisheka Porchia) and the 4x200 (Foluwa Desolu, Kayla Harrison, Rickesha Farris, Aleceya Harrison). On the boys side LaDann Thomas scored a huge PR and victory in the 800m. Also Allen England won the 1600m and Austin Mikovich won the 3200m. The boys scored 72 points.
