The C.E. Byrd track teams collected 10 combined victories at the District 1-5A Championships last Friday and qualified 17 athletes to the Region 1-5A Championships.  

The boys team had two golds as freshman Donavan Jackson won the 400m in a huge PR of 50.67.  Jackson teamed up with senior Isaiah January, sophomore Zaige Wills, and sophomore LaDann Thomas to win the 4x400 relay in a season best 3:27.29.  The boys team finished 4th with 64 points.

The girls team had eight golds for the second week in a row. Senior Kyah Loyd scored 3 individual victories and also ran on the victorious 4x100 relay in 48.25.  Other 4x100 relay members include senior Destiny Jones, junior Nia Johnson, and freshman Kayla Harrison.  Kayla Harrison also won the 300 hurdles in 46.26 and ran a leg on all 3 victorious relays, the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400.  Other 4x200 relay members include Destiny Jones, sophomore Taisheka Porchia, and sophomore Aleceya Harrison.  Those same four athletes won the 4x400 relay in 4:01.75. Taisheka Porchia also won the triple jump.  The girls team finished second with 125 points.

The following 17 athletes have qualified to this week's Regional meet at NSU.  The asterisk (*) represents a #1 seeding: Kyah Loyd (100*, 100h*, 200*, 4x100*), Kayla Harrison (300h*, 4x100*, 4x200*, 4x400), Taisheka Porchia (Triple jump*, 300h, 4x200*, 4x400), Aleceya Harrison (400, 4x200*, 4x400), Destiny Jones (4x100*, 4x200*, 4x400), Nia Johnson (Long jump, triple jump, 4x100*), Jonnai Jones (High Jump), Emily Clarke (Pole vault), Carlos Doss (200, 4x200), LaDann Thomas (800, 4x400), Donavan Jackson (400, 4x200, 4x400), Zaige Wills (4x200, 4x400), Isaiah January (4x200, 4x400), Allen England (1600), Austin Mikovich (3200), Anassas Anderson (Shot put), and Jared Banks (300h).
