In an international level track meet that brought over 7,700 athletes the Lady Jackets made school history at the prestigious 90th Texas Relays this past weekend. They qualified in 4 events and rewrote the C.E. Byrd girls record books in all 4. In the relays, the 4x400 (Kayla Harrison, Aleceya Harrison, Taisheka Porchia, Kyah Loyd) ran an amazing 3:52.75 to break the old record of 3:59.25 set in 2013. This mark puts them at Louisiana #1 for the year and LA#3 All-Time. The 4x100 relay (Nia Johnson, Kyah Loyd, Kayla Harrison, Taisheka Porchia) ran a 48.42 to break the former record from 2008. This puts them at LA#2 for this year. In the individual events it was Kyah Loyd maintaining her #1 state ranking by running 11.67 in the 100m and 13.75 in the 100 hurdles. Although both times were wind assisted, it's her lifetime best in each. Her 13.89 wind legal performance in the 100 hurdles final will stand as the school record.
