Cleo Singleton, Class of 2017, won second place for research and documentary film on Pauli Murray in the Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes Discovery Award competition. This is an international competition for students to complete original on an unsung hero who has yet to be widely recognized for their achievements. Cleo completed the project over the course of last year, beginning in the fall with the discovery of Murray then immersing herself in research and reading her biography before completing Skype interviews with other researchers and academics. Congratulations to the Byrd Quiz Bowl team that placed 2nd overall at the Tal Atkins Quiz Bowl at Magnet High on Saturday. Captain Dylan Tynes took home the first place individual award. The A team is Dylan Tynes, Cade Crandall, Lauren Johnson, Von Klotzbach, and Hank Turnage. The B team, which placed 5th overall, was Levi Mayeux, Madison Huckaby, Wyatt McCrary, Peyton Jones, and Mikayla Davis. Our next tournament will be held at Byrd on October 7th.
