2018 Yellow Jacket Relays: The boys track team scored 65 points just 5 points off the runner up team last Saturday at the Yellow Jacket Relays.  The Lady Jackets placed 2nd in the team totals just 6 points behind the Arkansas state champs Sylvan Hills.
The Lady Jackets won 8 events and scored an impressive 159 points with sophomore Claire White leading the way with 22.5 points.  Claire won the 800m (2:35.26) and the 1600m in a new PR (5:51.04).  She also ran on the winning and area's fastest 4x400 relay (4:09.55).  Other relay members include junior Aleceya Harrison, soph Kayla Harrison, and soph Becca Brown.  Those three ladies also won individual events as Kayla won the 100m )12.56), Aleceya won the 400m (season best 1:01.61), and Becca won the 300m hurdles in a PR (48.97).  Senior Nia Johnson won the triple jump in a season best performance (34' 7") and soph Jonnai Jones won the high jump (5' 0").  Junior and school record holder  Emily Clarke also won the pole vault in 8' 6".
On the boys side the 4x400 relay won claiming the area's best time in 3:29.01 currently #8 in LA 5A .  The quartet included junior Avaunte Steward, senior Jarius Jones, junior Zachary Lewis, and junior LaDann Thomas.  LaDann also won the 800m (2:07.48) after splitting 1:58.0 in the Distance Medley Relay earlier on his 800 leg.  The DMR ran 10:55.10 and fell one tenth shy of the school record set last year but is currently ranked #2 in the state and #5 All-time in Louisiana.  Other DMR members are Steward, soph Austin Mikovich, and junior Allen England.
